Welcome to our Postnatal Yoga course!

 

Postnatal yoga helps you bond with your child and makes it easier to deal with some common problems while caring for your baby. You will be attending these classes along with your child.

Postnatal yoga can be started six weeks after delivery. The six-week recovery period is the minimum gap before you start any yoga, including postnatal yoga. This allows the body the rest that it needs to do its natural repair processes. The break will also restore some of your strength and confidence. Postnatal yoga is perfect from six weeks to six months after childbirth. After six months, you will be in a position to restart regular yoga practice.

 

Benefits of Postnatal Yoga

Postnatal yoga strengthens the abdominal muscles that were overstretched during pregnancy. There are specific exercises to get your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles back in shape. The movements also include gentle twists to help shrink the uterus.

The benefits of postnatal yoga are not restricted to the mother alone. There are a few basic movements for infants to keep them calm and comfortable. The course also focuses on practices that involve handling infants in ways that they enjoy, and this helps them at all stages of development. Baby yoga also keeps babies contented between feeds and gives relief from stomach distress. The activity improves the non-verbal communication between mother and child. These loving interactions also help solve any early birth trauma.

 

Common problems that can be addressed by Postnatal Yoga

1. Weak pelvic floor

Due to the stretching during pregnancy and labour, your pelvic floor becomes weak. This is believed to be the cause of some common problems like reduced sexual satisfaction and urinary incontinence (poor bladder control) after childbirth. Although they are less frequent, more severe problems can also occur. Postnatal yoga strengthens the pelvic floor and helps resolve the associated issues faster.

 

2. Aches and pains

 

The poor posture as a result of bending forward to feed the baby causes neck and shoulder aches in many women. Postnatal yoga has postures to give relief and prevent further complications like back pain and headache.

 

3. Poor stamina and fatigue

 

The strain that pregnancy and childbirth put on you degrades your stamina. The restriction on physical activity for several months also dents your endurance. Don't be surprised if you find that physical activity that you could do quickly before has become difficult after childbirth. The lack of sleep, which is usual during the first few months of childcare, will also take its toll on your energy levels. Postnatal yoga will help you restore your stamina and manage sleep better.

 

4. Weak abdominal muscles

 

Pregnancy and delivery stretch your abdominal muscles. Postnatal yoga can help bring them back to shape. However, you must consult your doctor before doing anything specific to strengthen the abdominal muscles.

 

5. Common infant problems

 

Infants often suffer from colic or upset stomachs. Yoga positions give relief from gas and other stomach discomforts. Long spells of crying for no apparent reason is also a common problem with infants. It can be alarming. During postnatal yoga, you will learn techniques to help calm your baby. It will also help you bond better with your child.

Course Details

 

Our course is designed to cover various areas to help you after childbirth. You will learn proper posture, breathing techniques and meditation. This will allow you to relax and will support the natural healing and toning process. The sessions will slowly strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and promote harmony and balance in both body and mind.

You will participate in these sessions with your baby, and it will help you interact and bond with your child. You can change or feed the baby anytime during the sessions as needed.

The number of students in each group is limited to permit close attention and observation of each student's abilities. This is necessary to provide the best help and to ensure the required progress.
